Who We Are

Professor Alec Welsh
Prof Welsh is an academic clinician:scientist and certified sub-specialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the UK and Australia with Masters and PhD degrees in Digital Imaging and Fetal Imaging respectively. He is Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the UNSW, Faculty of Medicine (Nov 2007 onwards). He is an active clinician in both obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine at the Royal Hospital for Women, NSW Randwick. He leads the Perinatal Imaging Research Group, a multidisciplinary team representing fetal medicine, neonatology, sonography, biomedical and mechanical engineering.
Professor Tracie Barber
Prof. Barber is a mechanical engineer with a background in aerodynamics. She has worked with Prof. Welsh for over ten years, using engineering technologies such as imaging analysis, machine learning, software development and experimental validation to develop tools for maternal-fetal medicine.
